ABOUT: About 150 Florida 4-H youth will participate in the 2024 Southeast Dairy Youth Retreat, giving hands-on knowledge to this next generation of potential dairy farmers. Youth will be making homemade mozzarella cheese during this featured time window.
The Southeast Dairy Youth Retreat brings together youth ages 8 to 18 from seven southeastern states to interact and communicate with dairy industry professionals during hands-on learning activities, including cheese-making. Participants will learn about practical skills as well as cutting-edge science at the University of Florida’s department of animal sciences.
The event will also include tours of UF labs and seminars such as how to minimize food waste, careers in dairy sciences and livestock innovation.
