TAVARES, Fla. —The University of Florida/IFAS Extension Lake and Sumter counties will provide a free educational program to help teach you to close your seasonal home for optimal health and safety of your property.

The virtual program will take place twice — March 2, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. and March 10, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon., giving viewers two times to learn the topic.

The two-hour online program will cover “Keeping Your Home Safe Inside and Out.”

Learn about how to prevent mold and mildew from forming, so you can protect your health. Extension agents will also give you best practices in preparing the inside of your home, including tips for common appliances.

Get the outside of your home ready by learning how to prepare your yard and landscaping. In addition, keep your home safe by guidance provided by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. This program will include knowledge and step-by-step guidance to make sure your home is ready for your time away.
