In this photo released from the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, Lee County 4-H members Korina Chilcoat, 16, right, and Abigail Winslow, 11, dig a hole to plant a South Florida slash pine tree at Fort Myers’ Caloosahatchee Creeks Preserve West – Friday, Jan. 16, 2009.

The tree planting project, in partnership with the Florida Arbor Day Foundation, was conceived by a California 4-H member. The project aims to involve some 7 million 4-H members from the United States and Canada in planting 1 million trees to help reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
