BELLE GLADE, FLA.— Christine T. Waddill has been named the new director of the UF/IFAS Everglades Research and Education Center in Belle Glade. Waddill served for eight years as head of the Florida Cooperative Extension Service for the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS).

Waddill’s appointment was announced by UF Vice President for Agriculture and Natural Resources Mike Martin.

“Chris Waddill has provided major and significant leadership to our UF/IFAS extension program over the past several years. We anticipate she will provide the same stellar service as center director and provide ongoing major contributions to our research and education programs in South Florida,” said Martin.

Waddill came to UF in 1995 as the IFAS dean for extension and director of the Florida Cooperative Extension Service. This past September, Waddill said that for both professional and personal reasons she had decided to change her role in UF/IFAS.
