Program Offers Hands-on Experience In Agriculture, Natural Resources

GAINESVILLE—The Student Agricultural Council and the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences’ Ambassadors will sponsor the sixth annual IFAS Experience in Agriculture and Natural Resources on Saturday, April 13. The event is designed to give prospective students a hands-on opportunity to explore the academic programs offered at UF/IFAS.

The program, which begins at 8 a.m., will allow participants to tour the facilities, meet with faculty and students, participate in demonstrations and learn what it means to be a Gator, said Deborah Lancaster, UF/IFAS director of High School/Community College Relations. There will be special information sessions for pre-medical, pre-dental and pre-veterinary students.

A complimentary barbecue luncheon and tickets to the UF Orange and Blue football game are included for all registered participants. Parents and advisers are encouraged to attend. To register, call (352) 392-1964.
