Spring Cleaning Tips and Tidbits

Have cleaning tools close at hand to  make access and cleaning easier.

Spring has sprung and it’s time to take part in the tradition of spring cleaning your home. You will find that the multiple benefits outweigh the time and effort spent when you find yourself feeling less stress, enjoying a better mood, not to mention the health benefits of living in a clean home.

Here are some DO’s and DON’Ts when it comes to planning your spring cleaning.

  • DO declutter. Make sure to rid your house of items that have not been used for a year. Sort items to keep, donate, or throw away.
  • DO clean from the highest areas to the lowest areas. If you wait to clean higher items last, such as your ceiling, all that dust will end up on the floor and add time to your cleaning routine.
  • DON’T forget to clean the extras. This is the time to clean light fixtures, baseboards, and other items you don’t normally clean.
  • DO gather the correct tools and materials. Whether you choose homemade cleaning products or store bought, have them close to you for easy access.
  • DO involve your family. Making it a friendly competition with your family will make it a fun event and helps to teach healthy habits that will last a lifetime.
  • DON’T forget your fridge! Make sure to throw away expired or unwanted foods and wipe the area clean.

Spring cleaning is an essential part of maintaining your home. It helps you to stay organized, rids your home of unwanted dust and items, and contributes to an overall healthier life. Make sure to schedule your spring cleaning soon!
