Nassau Hippology Members Succeed at First Contest!

On Saturday, April 6 and Sunday April 7th, eight 4-H’ers competed in the State Hippology Contest for the first time! These youth have been training all year in this horse science educational contest. The contest is two full days encompassing horse judging, equipment identification, team problems, skill demonstrations, and a written test.

To prepare our members attended many after school classes including an intense cram week, volunteered to take on extra homework, and gave multiple speeches to their peers with information. The contest is rigorous and expansive making competing in it no easy task. team walking towards contest

When we asked these youth if they would compete again, it was with a resounding “YES!”. Even though it is a long weekend of testing all of our youth said they had a blast and enjoyed the challenge.
