Mid-Florida Research and Education Center (MREC) environmental horticulture doctoral student Yuvraj Khamare was recently awarded the 2021-2022 Spring Meadow – Proven Winners Scholarship by the Horticulture Research Institute.

“Plants are such an important part of our lives that it’s hard not to love them,” Khamare said. “I am grateful to be recognized by the industry and aspire to continue growing in horticulture.”

The Spring Meadow – Proven Winners Scholarship was created in 1999 by Dale and Liz Deppe for “bright, well-trained, and qualified” students in the horticulture industry.

“Spring Meadow Nursery’s goal is to grant scholarships to students with an interest in woody plant production, woody plant propagation, woody plant breeding, horticultural sales and marketing,” according to the Horticulture Research Institute.

In addition to the monetary award, Khamare will have the opportunity to visit the scholarship’s namesake nursery, Spring Meadow Nursery, in Michigan.
