This internship will connect students with urban agriculture, with a focus on hydroponics. Hydroponics is the technique of growing plants using a water-based nutrient solution rather than soil. Interns will work with University of Florida faculty, Tropical Research & Education Center scientists, and our community partner Right Now for Today. This is a unique internship in which youth learn essential life skills, workforce prep, and engage in an experience of a lifetime. Students will work twice weekly at the George Washington Carver Agri-Tech farm located in Overtown, Miami. This internship focuses on food insecurity, sustainability, workforce prep, teamwork, and community engagement. After this internship, youth can continue their work with Miami-Dade 4-H & Right Now For Today. Two of our interns from our previous internship were able to present their summer project at a teen conference in Washington, D.C.

This is not a traditional internship. Previous interns compared this experience to summer camp!
