Home Canning Series in February

Food preservation is a nutritious and economical way to turn fresh foods into pantry staples!

This 2-part series will introduce the fundamentals of canning and build the skills you need to safely preserve food at home.

Part 1: Basics of Home Canning ~ Tuesday, February 12th – 2:00 – 4:00pm

Learn the science and methods behind food preservation. The class will focus on USDA guidelines, food safety & quality, proper canning procedures, equipment, and recipes. A recipe preparation and water bath canning demonstration will be given.

Part 2: Jams & Jellies Workshop ~ Tuesday, February 19th -2:00 – 4:00pm

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn about high acid foods and the preservation of fruits with the use of a water bath canner. As part of a small group, you will have the opportunity to prepare a recipe, practice proper techniques of canning, and take home a jar of freshly made fruit jam!

Cost of $20 includes 2 classes, educational materials, canning demo & hands-on experience, one jar of fruit jam, and goody giveaways.
