The Jackson Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting a Cost-Share Kickoff Breakfast on Wednesday, September 18. The event will begin at 7:00 AM Central Time and will be located at the Jackson County Extension Office Auditorium, 2741 Penn Avenue, Marianna. This is a sponsored program with no charge to participants.
The purpose of this event is to highlight the agricultural cost-share funding opportunities available in the area. Funding partners will be giving brief presentations describing program criteria, followed by a question and discussion panel. The formal program should conclude around 8:30, but participants will have time for individual interaction with the specific funding agencies until 10:00 AM. The cost-share partners include: the Northwest Florida Water Management District (NWFWMD), Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services(FDACS), Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), and the Southeast Aquatic Resources Partnership (SARP). Each funding agency serves different sectors of agriculture. The Water Management District has funding specifically for farms in the Blue Springs Basin. SARP has funding specifically for farms in the Chipola River Basin. NRCS and FDACS, on the other hand, have available funds are for all farms in region.
This is a Kick-Off program because this is the time of year when new budget funds are available for 2019-2020 contracts. Come enjoy a Poor Folks Breakfast and get information about the conservation programs available to farmers in this area. It can be confusing figuring out which programs provide assistance for different projects. This is your opportunity to meet representatives from each agency at the same time to determine which programs have merit for your operation.
