Jackson 4-H News and Updates

 What a busy year we have had so far!  From clinics, public speaking and demonstrations, judging, showing cattle, hatching eggs, sharing talents, and community service, Jackson 4-H has been on the move.

We congratulate all our outstanding youth for their accomplishments and can’t wait to see what the future holds.

 Here’s a rundown of what’s been happening:

 January

  • Youth from Jackson 4-H attended the Livestock Workshop in Gainesville at the University of Florida
  • 4-H Tropicana Public Speaking contests were held in schools with winners advancing to the County contest

February

  • Youth from Jackson 4-H competed in the Jackson County Fed Cattle Show
  • Youth from Jackson 4-H participate in the NW District 4-H Teen Retreat at Camp Cherry Lake
  • Youth from Jackson 4-H competed in Livestock, Poultry, and Horse Judging at the Tampa State Fair
  • Youth from Jackson 4-H participate in 4-H Day at the Capitol

March

  • Youth from Jackson 4-H compete at the Southeastern Livestock Expo Livestock Judging Contest
  • Jackson 4-H Embryology Programs gets “hatching” at Sneads Elementary
  • Youth from Jackson 4-H get started in 4-H Chick Chain
  • Jackson County 4-H Showcase (formerly 4-H County Events) was held

April

  • Youth from Jackson 4-H compete in State Livestock, Horse Judging/Hippology, and Meats contests
  • Jackson 4-H shows appreciation during National Volunteer Week
  • Jackson Embryology Programs continues in Sneads and gets started at Blue Springs Education Coop, Riverside Elementary Science program, and Dayspring Christian Academy.
  • Youth from Jackson 4-H compete in District II 4-H Showcase (formerly District II 4-H Events), District II Officer Elections and Global Youth Service Day

Jackson 4-H Open House

Make plans to attend our annual 4-H Open House on Tuesday, May 15th from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Jackson County Ag Conference Center on Penn Ave.  Meet our club leaders and see what 4-H has to offer!  Contact the 4-H office at (850) 482-9620 for more details.

June –  December

Jackson 4-H Camps and Workshops

Summer is almost here!  Don’t miss out on the many opportunities to participate in our fun and educational camps and workshops.  There are two ways to register:  Enroll through 4HOnline https://florida.4honline.com/Login or complete a paper registration form.  You may pay in person at the 4-H office or pay by credit card through Eventbrite.  2018 Camp and Workshop Flyer and Registration Form.

 Intermediate State

Who: Intermediate Youth (4-H ages 11-13)

When: June 15-17, 2018

Where: 4-H Camp Cherry lake

Cost: $85

Registration: May 1, 2018 to June 1, 2018

Every 4-H Club Member will receive an invitation postcard in the mail. If you are interested in additional postcards to give out to your youth, send me an email!
