Lifestyle and Health

5210-every-day

Every day people choose how they live. The foods they eat, if they exercise or not. The link between lifestyle and health is addressed so often, at times people dismiss this until it affects them personally. Research tells us that living a healthy lifestyle can significantly reduce our likelihood of developing many diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.

Many positive health outcomes are linked to maintaining a healthy weight, dietary intake and exercise regimen. Yet, so many people wait until they are in a negative situation before changing their habits.

Set this daily goal: 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, 2 hours or less of screen time, 1 hour of physical activity and 0 sugar sweetened beverages. Yes, the 5210, numbers to live by, is relevant for everyone.

As this year comes to an end, think about personal health and wellness goals you may want to set for 2017. Examine your current daily intake of fruits and vegetables, are you getting enough? How much time is spent behind a computer or television screen (excluding work or school)? Sixty minutes of physical activity can be achieved with four 15 minute walks per day, the key is to get moving. Letting go of those empty calorie drinks makes a huge impact.

2017 will be here soon. Start making changes today for a healthy 2017.
