Jackson County 4-H will once again be offering the 4-H Embryology in the Classroom Project to classrooms in Jackson County. Last year nearly 100 local 1st and 2nd grade youth participated, and this year we hope to include even more. Thanks to donations from the Marianna Tractor Supply Store and a mini-grant from Florida Agriculture in the Classroom we were able to purchase 6 incubators and supplies. We are working to raise money to buy more incubators so that we may serve more classrooms at the same time, rather than having to put classrooms on waiting lists.

If you are teacher in Jackson County of grades 1-8 and are interested in having this project in your classroom, please contact the 4-H office to get on the waiting list. The Jackson County 4-H Office provides the classroom with the following:

Curriculum, incubator, brooding supplies, candler, feed and water utensils, and eggs.

We anticipate setting the first batches of eggs during the week of February 25th in order to have chicks hatched and ready to go home before spring break. We will set eggs again after youth come back from spring break.

If you or someone you know would like to support this project with donations, supplies or fertile eggs, please contact Angel Granger, Jackson County 4-H Agent, at (850) 482-9620. Our program is growing and we need your help to serve as many youth as possible!
