DAY CAMP – Bicycle Safety & Rodeo

BICYCLE SAFETY CAMP & RODEO – March 26 & 27, 2014

LOCATION: Jackson County Extension Office
2741 Pennsylvania Avenue, Marianna
TIME: 8:30AM – 2:30 PM

Wondering what to do with your time during Spring Break? Have we got something fun for you! The 4-H Youth Development program is sponsoring a Youth Bicycle Safety Camp and Bike Rodeo. This two-day camp encompasses bicycle safety, rules of the road, proper attire for riding your bike, maintenance and practical experience in dealing with real-life situations that may be faced by bicyclers. All participants will be fitted and provided with a free helmet. The second day gives campers the opportunity to show off their skills as they maneuver through a road course with simulated traffic signals, pedestrian crossings, intersections and stop signs.

As part of the camp, there will also be information on healthy eating habits, sun safety and proper hydration. Campers will have an opportunity to “earn” camp dollars that can be used in the Camp Store to buy healthy snacks.

Cost for the day camp is $30 per child (family discount available) and is open to ages 5-18. Each camper will receive a free bicycle helmet, snacks, lunch and a 4-H Workbook. There is a 40 person limit to the class, so don’t delay in getting registered, as it is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration forms are available at the Extension Office, or click on this link for online version: BICYCLE SAFETY CAMP

NOTE: Campers who have bicycles are encouraged to bring their own for this event.
