Jackson County 4-H Welcomes New 4-H Cooking Club

Jackson County 4-H is excited to announce the start of a new 4-H Cooking Club. 4-H Cooking Club members will learn food preparation skills and kitchen safety by preparing fun and tasty recipes at each meeting. Club members will also learn how to present cooking demonstrations and learn to complete a 4-H cooking project book. 4-H Agent, Ben Knowles, will serve as the leader for this new 4-H Club. The first meeting dates will be September 18, October 16, November 13 and December 11. Meetings will be held at the Jackson County Extension Service, from 3:30 PM-5:00PM.

Enrollment is open to youth ages 8-13. Youth must have turned 8 by September 1, 2012. Youth 14-18 can apply to serve as Teen Volunteers. To enroll, parents/guardians must complete a 4-H Enrollment Form for each child wishing to join the 4-H Cooking Club. Club dues will be $10.00 for the 2012-13 4-H year. The 4-H Club is limited to 10 members. Membership is on a first-come, first serve basis. A waiting list will be created after the club reaches a membership of 10 youth. Any member who misses two consecutive meetings will be removed from the club membership and membership will be offered to youth on the waiting list. To enroll a child, parents/guardians should contact Ben Knowles, by phone at 482-9620 or by e-mail at brk09@ufl.edu.

4-H is open to all youth regardless of gender, race, creed, color, religion, or disability. Persons with disabilities should contact the Jackson County Extension Service at least 10 days prior to an event so proper consideration can be given to the request.
