Broward County

Extension Agent I or II – 4-H Youth Development

The successful candidate will lead through designing, implementing, and evaluating positive youth development programs for youth and adult volunteers.  The 4-H agent’s extension education program will be guided by an advisory committee that incorporates the various needs of the county’s population. We are looking for candidates with academic and people skills who work well in teams, honor their commitments, and innovate in a rapidly changing world.

A bachelor’s degree and a strong academic background in youth development, education, agricultural science, or a related field. We will accept applicants without a bachelor’s degree if the degree will be earned by August 2024.

 

 

Columbia County

Extension Agent I – IV – Agriculture – Row Crops and Commercial Horticulture

Program responsibilities will include commercial agronomic crops and crop systems, water quality, and other areas to be determined locally in cooperation with the program advisory committee. Columbia county is home to many natural resources, and you will be expected to promote best management practices to assist producers with water quality and quantities.  An active participation in our 4-H Youth Development program is expected (10%) in your area of expertise.

A bachelor’s degree earned from an accredited college and/or university in agriculture, agronomy, crop science, or a closely related field is required.

 

Hernando County

County Extension Director and Extension Agent III – IV

As the Extension Agent and County Extension Director (CED), you will work jointly for UF/IFAS Extension and Hernando County. We are looking for an individual who is a self-starting, energetic, and team-oriented leader. The assigned program area will be determined based on the successful candidate’s expertise. For a non-4-H program assignment, at least 5% of the time will be devoted to 4-H Youth Development.

  • A master’s degree in horticulture, natural resources, youth development, agriculture education and communication, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university is required.

 

Lake County

Extension Agent I or II – Residential Horticulture

As the Agent, you will build an extension program that provides public education on issues related to residential horticulture, food systems, and water conservation in Lake County. You will oversee the Master Gardener Volunteer program including the daily operation of all Master Gardener Volunteer events, projects, and committees. You will conduct  or coordinate on-going training for existing Master Gardener Volunteers plus an annual introductory training session for new recruits.

A bachelor’s degree in horticulture, environmental horticulture, or a closely related area is required. We will accept applicants without a bachelor’s degree if the degree is earned by May 2024.

 

 

Manatee County

Extension Agent I – III – Commercial Horticulture

As an Extension Agent, you will work jointly for UF/IFAS Extension and Manatee County government. As an extension educator, you will design, implement, and evaluate commercial horticulture educational programs to assist clientele in nursery crop production and oversee the educational programming for the Living Lab at Geraldson Farm Project. You will devote 5% of your time contributing to our 4-H Youth Development program. Your target audiences will include horticulture producers, allied industry representatives, national, state, and local agencies, Manatee County citizens youth and adult, among others.

A bachelor’s degree in plant science, horticultural science, agronomy, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university is required.

 

 

Putnam County

Extension Agent I – Rural Community Health

The focus areas will be human nutrition, healthy lifestyles, and improving individual and community health and well-being. You will empower individuals and families to adopt healthy eating habits and lifestyle behaviors that can prevent or delay the onset of chronic illnesses such as heart disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes. You will also deliver programs that improve individual and community health outcomes and help navigate pathways for access to appropriate health care for rural and underserved communities in Putnam County.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in family and consumer sciences, nutrition, dietetics, health & wellness, or a closely related field is required. We will accept applicants without a bachelor’s degree if the degree is earned by May 2024.

 

St. Lucie County
