Whether you’re interested in raising backyard chickens, growing your own food, keeping bees, preserving the harvest, or learning more about small-scale livestock, the new Holmes County Homesteading Club offers a place to learn, connect, and grow. This program is open to everyone.
UF/IFAS Extension Holmes County invites residents of all experience levels to attend the launch of this new monthly educational series on
When: Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. CST
Where: Holmes County Agricultural Center, 1169 E. Highway 90, Bonifay, Florida.
The July 9th program will feature the topic of Beekeeping, providing participants with an introduction to honey bee biology, hive management, equipment, and the important role pollinators play in agriculture and home gardens.
The Holmes County Homesteading Club will meet on the second Thursday of each month, offering practical, research-based education on a wide variety of homesteading topics, including:
- Gardening and food production
- Food preservation
- Beekeeping
- Small farms and livestock
- Self-sufficiency skills
- Seasonal homesteading topics
Each meeting will feature expert speakers, hands-on learning opportunities when applicable, and time for participants to connect with others who share an interest in sustainable living and lifelong learning.
The program is hosted by UF/IFAS Extension Holmes County in partnership with Lead for America and the Holmes County Board of County Commissioners.
The Holmes County Homesteading Club is free and open to the public.
