Growing Citrus in the Florida Home Landscape

Growing citrus in your home landscape is challenging. The citrus disease greening affects much of the citrus in Florida and requires extra attention to insect management and fertilization.

Getting Started with Citrus
If you are ready to plant and care for a citrus tree, select greening tolerant varieties such as ‘Sugar Belle’. Cover young trees with insect screening and use a citrus specific fertilizer on a regular basis. Young citrus trees also need frequent watering to establish the tree after planting. Scout regularly for insect pests such as leaf miner, aphids, and the citrus psyllid and spot treat as needed. Watch our short video to learn more!
