March Monthly Workshop: Vegetable Gardening in a Drought

This month’s workshop will teach you how to grow edible plants during a drought. We will look at how dry weather changes the way vegetables grow and why some crops survive better than others. You will learn which vegetables need less water and why they are good choices for Florida gardens. We will also talk about our sandy soil and simple ways to help it hold more moisture, like adding compost or using mulch. The workshop will show easy watering methods that save water and help plants stay healthy, even when rain is low. This program is a great fit for anyone who wants to grow food with less water and still enjoy a strong and productive garden.

Dates, Times and Locations

A vegetable garden with rows of young plants growing in bare soil. A drip irrigation line runs along the center row, delivering water directly to the base of each plant. The surrounding soil appears dry, and the layout shows evenly spaced crops at different growth stages.
The right irrigation method, such as microirrigation, can be a key tool for saving water during drought conditions.
