Project Pantry: Breakfast Sandwich
This week’s easy meal? A breakfast sandwich!
Ingredients you may need:
Bagels (You can also use English muffins or sandwich bread.)
Sliced cheese (any kind you want)
Meat (ham, bacon, or sausage) – OPTIONAL
Tools you may need:
Cast iron skillets (2)
NOTE: You do not need to use cast iron, but the weight of cast iron will allow for easy pressing later.
Melt butter in a cast iron skillet and fry the egg. Season egg with salt and pepper, as desired.
Toast the bagel.
Melt butter in the other cast iron skillet and place one half of the bagel in the pan, crust side down. Place ham or other meat on the bagel.
Place fried egg on the ham.
Place cheese on top of the egg.
Place the other half of the bagel on top of the cheese.
Take the other cast iron skillet and place it on top of the sandwich to press it. NOTE: Be sure to clean the bottom of the other skillet before placing it on the sandwich.
Let the bottom bagel toast in the pan for a minute or two.
Remove the top pan and flip the sandwich over. Replace the top pan and allow the sandwich to cook further, until cheese is melted.
Remove finished breakfast sandwich from pan and enjoy!
