Oyster Data Gathering: Scientists To Meet Oct. 10

The University of Florida Oyster Recovery Team is holding a data gathering meeting on Wednesday, October 10, at the Apalachicola Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.

Scientists will form working groups that will focus on different aspects of the oyster recovery.

Mark Berrigan of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services division of aquaculture will provide an overview on historical perspectives regarding oyster management during a working lunch.

At day’s end, the plan is for each working group to have sufficient information to move forward with analyzing the available data and published materials that pertains to their program area.

The meeting is expected to adjourn at 3 p.m. Inquiries may be directed to Bill Mahan, Franklin County Extension Director, or Karl Havens, Recovery Team chair.
