Bottlebrush Regrowth

It is always better to wait when it comes to evaluating winter damage on plants. Many people have already written off their beautiful bottlebrush trees but we are currently seeing new growth emerge at the Escambia County Demonstration gardens. Early on we throught the plants were damaged beyond hope but signs of regrowth prove that we just never know.

In seasons following a cold winter, give your plants a chance. Sometimes it takes well into May or even mid summer before we truly know if a plant will recover. Of course, patience is difficult when you see a brown plant in your yard. Just remember that for some special specimens, waiting is worth it when you are rewarded with new green growth.
