GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Emmy® Award-winning television series “Flip My Florida Yard” is back for its fourth season, and this time it’s putting more power and knowledge directly into the hands of Florida homeowners.
Produced by Crawford Entertainment, the series continues to use the nine principles of Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ (FFL), a program based on research from the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) and funded by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
But in “Season 4,” the format shifts to a more hands-on, do-it-yourself approach—giving homeowners the tools, knowledge and confidence to flip their own yards. Each episode follows homeowners as they learn step-by-step strategies on water-saving practices, low-maintenance plants and pollinator-friendly features from UF/IFAS Extension agents and FFL experts.

“Season four is all about empowering homeowners,” said Tom Wichman, assistant director of the Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ program and frequent on-set contributor. “We’ve seen how inspiring this show has been over the past three seasons and now we want to take it even further—helping homeowners see that they don’t need a full production crew to get started. This season is all about making Florida-Friendly Landscaping doable for anyone, anywhere.”
This season also introduces “showcase homes” that serve as living examples of Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ principles in action. These properties highlight low-maintenance plants, water-saving irrigation, pollinator habitats, and designs that reduce fertilizer and pesticide runoff—practices that protect Florida’s waterways and ecosystems while creating vibrant, inviting outdoor spaces.
“Florida homeowners want greener, healthier yards, but they often don’t know where to begin,” said Claire Lewis, UF/IFAS Extension state specialized agent and director of the Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ program. “This season is designed to empower people with real, actionable steps they can take—whether it’s adding a rain garden, choosing the right plant for the right place or creating habitat for wildlife.”
The Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ program has helped thousands of residents redesign their yards to conserve water, reduce chemical use and support biodiversity. By featuring DIY projects and showcase homes, season four offers fresh, practical inspiration for families ready to make a difference at home and in their communities.
