GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida agricultural and biological engineering graduate program is one of the nation’s leading programs of its kind according to the latest graduate school rankings released by the U.S. News & World Report.
The program ranked No. 3 nationally — up from No. 8 last year. Rankings are determined using a number of factors, such as peer assessments, research expenditures, student-to-faculty ratio, acceptance rate and more. Visit the U.S. News ranking methodology for a complete look at the ranking criteria.
“Our department faculty are committed to preparing our students to not only be successful after their program but feel confident that they have the skills to do so. For example, our recent investment in artificial intelligence curriculum and research opportunities will give students the tools they need to be AI-ready for tomorrow’s workforce,” said Kati Migliaccio, agricultural and biological engineering chair.
The department of agricultural and biological engineering is part of the UF Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) and the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering.
The agricultural and biological engineering discipline addresses many global challenges society faces today, such as climate change, food production and scarcity, and water quality and quantity, among others. Research and teaching efforts within agricultural and biological engineering include agricultural production, supply chains, biotechnology, climate-smart agriculture, biofuels and more.
In September 2020, UF rose to No. 6 among the nation’s top public universities, according to U.S. News.
