Ag Adventures Field Trip

On SeptembeIMG_0877r 24th, Calhoun County 4th and 5th grade students, as part of the Ag in the Classroom program, went on an Ag Adventures field trip to the University of Florida Research and Education Center in Quincy, FL. Students, teachers, and parents progress through a series of stations where they learn about soil, pollination, corn, cotton, peanuts, pumpkins and squash. While visiting the crop stations, students learn from researchers about each crop, get to see the crop growing in the field, sample foods made from each crop and see items that can be made from the crops. They even get to run through a corn maze. Our county 4-H agent says that after experiencing Ag Adventures, students frequently run up to her at the local schools and grocery stores to tell her how much they enjoyed the trip. We have to say that we do, too, and thank each volunteer and sponsor who makes this program possible each year.

For more information on how to be a part of Calhoun County 4-H, please contact 4-H Agent, Whitney Cherry, at the Calhoun County Extension Office by phone at 850-674-8323 or by email at cherryw@ufl.edu.
