4-H Summer Day Camp opportunities in neighboring counties

Jackson County 4-H 2014 Summer Day Camps

(All Day Camps will be held at the Jackson County Ag Complex at 2741 Pennsylvania Ave., Marianna. Snacks and drinks provided, bring a sack lunch for camps ending after 11:30AM.)

Day Camps fill up quickly. and are first-come, first-serve. 4-H Enrollment & Day Camp Registration Forms are required. Payment must be included. Incomplete registrations will not be accepted and will not hold a spot for day camps.

Cloverbud Explorations: The World of Rabbits and Poultry (Ages 5 – 7)

July 1, 2014 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM Cost: $20

Join us for a look at the fascinating world of rabbits and chickens! Learn what it takes to keep your bunny and/or your chicken properly fed, watered and housed. We will also learn about proper hand washing with a Veterinarian! You will be able to hold a real rabbit and a chicken. You might even see a hen lay an egg!

Deploying SeaPerch Underwater Robotics (Ages 10 and Up – Limit of 10 Youth)

July 8-10, 2014 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM COST: $75

Working in two-person teams, during this three-day camp you will learn how to build an underwater robot through the SeaPerch program. Once built, you will have the opportunity to test your robot, deploy them on missions, and compete in a SeaPerch Challenge. You will learn how to solder, drill, cut PVC pipe and more. Robots are sponsored by local businesses and will not be take-home items. However, other teaching tools/kits will be available for youth to take home.

*By participating in this camp, youth are guaranteed a 4-H club membership in the new SeaPerch 4-H Club starting in the Fall. Fall’s SeaPerch 4-H Club membership will be very limited.

We Are On a Journey….To Peru! (Ages 8 – 18)

July 15-16, 2014 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM COST: $30

*Deadline for registration is 7-5-14; minimum of 15 participants required.

Come learn about the Peruvian culture from Ms. Vicki Fuqua, a frequent visitor to Peru. Ms. Vicki is going to share her experiences, pictures and knowledge of one of our neighboring countries. During this two-day camp, you will have the opportunity to create some crafts, plant a crop native to Peru, and learn GPS tracking.

Character First (Ages 8 – 12)

August 5-7, 2014 8:30AM – 11:30 AM COST: $15/child – $25/family

*Deadline for registration is 7-30-14; minimum of 30 participants required.

The main focus of this Day Camp is to provide young people an opportunity to learn attentiveness, obedience, truthfulness, generosity, gratefulness and doing what is right when no one is looking. This is an extension of the Character Keepers 4-H Club held monthly at the Day Spring School.
