Let Heaven and Nature Sing
As 2024 draws to a close, and as we reflect on the past year… do you see what I see? I see trees, plants and flowers growing that weren’t there last year. Hopefully, you planted some too, and are enjoying the thrill of watching them grow. I see the wonders of nature everywhere!
Here in South Florida. it’s our prime time to be outside. Days and nights are cooler and the relentless humidity has abated for a time. We are growing our herb and veggie gardens, dining al fresco, and entertaining at home.
I see beautiful birds, butterflies, dragonflies and bees. Many birds are migrating here, and I see and hear them. The cold north wind is blowing now, and my windchimes are singing. I am thankful to live in the beautiful state of Florida, where winter is the best time of the year.
We slow down and take time to visit our friends and families, sharing special holiday recipes. It’s a time to reminisce on our accomplishments and events of this past year. We remember those who have passed on with cherished memories.
It’s a blessing to have a week at the end of the year to rest in the love and warmth of our homes and gardens. Our country shares this festive time together in peace, but as we hear the news around the world, we are reminded that not everyone is as fortunate.
Take the time to be outside, walk barefoot on the grass or sand and put your hands in the soil. Connect with the earth. Literally, recharge your batteries. We will need to, because 2025 will most likely be a very interesting and busy year.
Hopefully, UF/IFAS has been with you throughout this year, answering your questions, and supporting you with “solutions for your life.”
Do you see what I see?
