The University of Florida’s Food Safety and Quality Program provides training which enables food managers and staff to offer Florida consumers food that is prepared in a clean and safe environment.
The ServSafe Manager’s class and exam will be offered in Broward County during 2020. ServSafe is the national food safety certification for those working, or planning to work, in the food industry, including running your own food business.
The ServSafe class is nationally recognized through the National Restaurant Association and will be offered in Davie at the Extension office. Upon successful completion of the training, participants will receive a National Certification valid for five years. (Certificates/exam results will be sent out approximately two weeks after the exam.)
The next ServSafe class date is Wednesday, March 18, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The class and exam will be held at the UF/IFAS Extension Broward County office, located at 3245 College Avenue, Davie, FL 33314. The exam is based from the 7th edition ServSafe Manager textbook, which came out in 2017, and is recommended for studying the most current food code information.
Price varies depending on whether or not you need to purchase the textbook, which needs three to five business days to arrive; overnight shipping is an option and will cost more, so plan ahead and purchase your book early so you can start studying and reviewing the material.
For those who don’t pass the first time, there is the option to purchase a retest.

Bring your own lunch, snacks and a light jacket or sweater, as room temperature may vary.
Please make sure you study leading up to March 18th.
The first part of the class is meant to be a review of the material. You should be very comfortable with the ServSafe material by the test date to ensure a high exam score.
