Brevard County 4-H Fair & Market Poultry Auction

When and Where

Join Brevard County 4-H for our annual 4-H Fair & Market Poultry Auction on April 17-18th, 2026. The UF/IFAS Extension Brevard County office in Cocoa will be hosting the fair at 3695 Lake Drive, Cocoa, FL 32926. This event is free and open to the public, and the auction will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 18th.

What is it?

The 4-H Fair is an annual showcase that gives our members the opportunity to display their hard work and projects they’ve been working on all year. Members can complete projects in poultry, rabbits/cavy, horticulture, fine arts, cooking and baking, goats, STEM, and so much more. All their work and projects will be on display for this year’s fair.

The market poultry auction will begin with a 9:00 AM breakfast, where you will have the opportunity to chat with 4-H members and learn about their projects before bidding on their trio of chickens once the auction begins at 10:00 AM. Our 4-H members have been raising their chicks in preparation for this annual event. This year, we have over 35 youths participating in our poultry project where they will auction off Plymouth Barred Rock laying hens.

Impacts on Youth Development

The 4-H Fair and Market Poultry Auction is an opportunity for Brevard County youth to exhibit the projects they’ve worked on year-long. While youth do earn ribbons for exemplary projects, 4-H teaches youth there is more to winning than a blue ribbon. The hard work they put into their projects helps youth develop life skills such as time management, planning, record keeping, self-motivation, communication, and more . The fair and poultry auction allows youth to show what they learned while raising chickens for auction, which gives them an introduction into entrepreneurship as well as public speaking skills from presenting their animals to buyers.

Proceeds from the auction will go back to the 4-H members to help them fund their animal projects for next year. Youths who work in 4-H earn much more than ribbons – 4-H is the only youth program in Brevard that supports life skills development through a variety of projects and activities.
