ANS Undergraduate Advising

Meet your new Undergraduate Advisors

Alexis Strickland-Tilton

Alexis earned her bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences (Food Animal) in 2017. She first attended Santa Fe College and then entered the University of Florida (UF) as a transfer student. She made the most of her time here by serving as the Gator Collegiate Cattlewomen’s President and a member of the Block and Bridle Club. After graduation, she was the high school agriculture teacher and FFA Advisor at Palatka High School for 5 years. Alexis, her husband Payton, and their two children, Hyrum & Lucille, also run a family cattle operation.

Savannah Linzmaier

Savannah earned her bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in 2019. During her time at ABAC, she held three officer positions in the ABAC Cattlemen’s Association chapter (Chaplain, Reporter, and Vice President), and was a member of several other campus clubs. After graduation, she began working at UF in the Office of Admissions and then at the Food and Resource Economics Department. Outside of work, she enjoys either watching gator athletics or being on the water with her husband and two dogs.

Purpose and Goals of Advising

As Advisors, we are here to give guidance, support, and encouragement to our Animal Sciences (ANS) students on their individual journeys. While we believe students are in control of their academic careers, we never want our students to feel they are alone. Our doors are open, and we are happy to meet and talk about anything. If there are questions we cannot answer, we have campus-wide resources to offer. Our purpose is to encourage students to develop personal and career goals, ensure students are using their education to support their goals, resolve academic concerns, and encourage departmental involvement.

Our goal is to make the undergraduate advising office welcoming and approachable. We never want students to feel they do not have anyone to turn to or to feel like nobody cares about them. Right now, we have 500 ANS undergraduate students in the department. With only two of us, it can be difficult to ensure every student feels supported, but we do our very best and you can help us be better. We created an anonymous survey to help us understand our students and to make changes where needed. We encourage all ANS undergraduates to fill out the ANS Undergraduate Survey.

How To Meet with Us

While our doors are open, we may not always be available at a moment’s notice. We encourage students to book an appointment with one of us through our booking sites (listed below) to ensure we have enough time for your individual needs. ANS students are not assigned to either of us specifically, this is up to their preference or availability. We encourage students to come to advising appointments with a graduation plan and questions. A fillable graduation plan and example plans are available in the Undergraduate Update on TEAMS. This TEAMS page is also where all updates and announcements on advising, course updates, extracurricular opportunities, internships, jobs, housing, and scholarships, are posted.
