GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Animal sciences double Gator Trey Warnock was recognized with the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni and Friends Horizon Award.

Headshot of Trey WarnockGiven at the UF/IFAS Dinner of Distinction, this award is presented to a CALS alumnus who has completed their most recent UF degree within the last 10 years. The award recognizes an individual for outstanding contributions and potential as a leader in agriculture, natural resources, life sciences and related industries.

“As a student, Trey made the most of his college experience,” said CALS Dean Elaine Turner. “The department of animal sciences was his second home, and the brothers of Alpha Gamma Rho became his second family. Since graduating, Trey has remained connected with the college and turned his experiences as a student into a successful career in the agriculture industry.”

Warnock earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in animal sciences in 2008 and 2010, respectively. He was actively involved in his fraternity and represented UF on the meat judging and meat-animal evaluation teams, while also working at the UF Beef Teaching Unit and conducting his own undergraduate research.

His professional career began as an intern at Amarillo Brokerage Company, a commercial cattle risk management firm with clients across the United States. Today, Warnock is an owner of the company as well as other related companies.

Warnock regularly gives back to the animal sciences department, often serving as a guest lecturer. In addition, he and his wife Chelsea recently named the front porch of the Beef Teaching Unit after his fraternity brother and late friend Sam Tripson. This gift is part of an overall goal to raise $30,000 to endow the Sam Tripson Memorial Fund.

Warnock joins a list of 25 others to receive this high honor from the UF/IFAS College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
