University of Idaho Seeking Applicants for Masters Programs in Beef Nutrition for Fall 2018

Masters of Science Student Position Available Fall 2018 – Beef Nutrition & Microbiology


A Masters of Science student position is available in the Department of Animal and Veterinary Science at the University of Idaho. The position will focus on the role of feed additives in the beef cattle finishing period on accumulation of Salmonella species in deep tissue lymph nodes. 

Position includes stipend and out-of-state tuition relief. The candidate will also have the opportunity to TA in undergraduate courses to supplement income.
The successful candidate will be expected to: 
  • Carry out animal trial and manage undergraduate assistants
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data obtained in the experiment
  • Communicate results in scientific papers and at conferences

Required qualifications include:

  • B.S. in animal science, zoology, physiology, microbiology, or related discipline
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and strong work ethic

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience working with food production animals
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting
  • Experience in presenting and publishing research results
