ABE’s Ziynet Boz, Ph.D. Visits Capitol Hill

Late January, Dr. Ziynet Boz, Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at the University of Florida, participated in a congressional Lunch-and-Learn on Capitol Hill hosted by the National Coalition for Food and Agricultural Research (NCFAR). The session, held in the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee Room, brought together congressional staff and scientific leaders to discuss the role of food systems research in strengthening the U.S. bioeconomy. Dr. Boz led the discussion, highlighting how convergent research across food science, engineering, digitalization, and systems modeling can improve resilience, reduce inefficiencies such as food loss and waste, and enhance U.S. competitiveness. The event underscored the importance of sustained public investment in food and agricultural research and provided an opportunity to share University of Florida research perspectives directly with policymakers shaping national priorities.
