Dr. Ajay Sharma Applied Ecology Section of the Ecological Society of America

Dr. Ajay Sharma, an Assistant Professor at the University of Florida (UF) was selected to chair one of the largest Applied Ecology groups in the nation. He became Chair, Applied Ecology Section of the Ecological Society of America (ESA) during the Society’s annual 2019 nomination cycle. This two-year term will allow Ajay to preside over one of the world’s largest professional society of ecologists.

The Applied Ecology Section seeks to encourage research and communication in all phases of the application of ecological principles. This includes finding solutions for practical environmental problems associated with our increasing human population. Above all, Dr. Sharma will encourage relationships with and among those specialists in public policy, engineering, agriculture, and natural resources. These specialists along with many others use ecological principles in resolving some of the most difficult problems. In addition, this appointment will allow the awarding of several scholarships to students to attend the ESA Annual Meeting to make presentations in applied ecology.
