NATA to host 2 wildland fire trainings (S-131/S-215) in June 2018; Registration now OPEN

This coming June, 2 wildland fire trainings will be offered by NATA for individuals with wildland fire experience. Registration opens today and will close on May 15. Both workshops are suggested National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) training courses and will be held at the Doyle Conner Building in Gainesville, FL. S-131 Firefighter Type 1: June 12, 2018 in Gainesville, FL

This 1-day in-person training course is designed for individuals with wildland fire experience and currently qualified as a FFT2 desiring to be qualified as a FFT1 (Firefighter Type 1) or ICT5 (Incident Commander Type 5). This course is designed to be interactive, containing several tactical decision games designed to facilitate learning the objectives and encourage class discussion. Topics include fireline reference materials, communications, and tactical decision making. IMPORTANT: Participants must have completed S-130/190 (Basic Wildland Firefighter) prior to this course and must bring their own IRPG (Incident Response Pocket Guide).

The registration fee is $75 and the deadline to register is May 15th (or until capacity is reached!). Participants are responsible for securing their own lodging and bringing their own lunch. Coffee, water, and snacks will be provided throughout the training.

S-215 Fire Operations in the Wildland/Urban Interface: June 13-14, 2018 in Gainesville, FL

This 2-day in-person training course is designed for individuals currently qualified as a FFT1 with knowledge of their agency firefighting policy as it relates to wildland/urban interface fires. It is intended to assist structure and wildland firefighters who will be making tactical decisions when confronting wildland fire that threatens life, property, and improvements in the wildland/urban interface. IMPORTANT: Participants must have completed S-130/190 Basic Wildland Firefighter and S-131 Firefighter Type 1 before taking this course and must bring their own IRPG.
