Update: Master Gardener Plant Sale!

Saturday, April 25th, from 9am-1pm, the Master Gardeners will be at Hudson Park selling plants and answering gardening questions. This week, we will be featuring some of the plants offered at the sale–starting today with amaryllis and soap aloe!

Amaryllis is a beautiful flowering bulb that is very easy to care for. Its flowers come in red, pink, orange, white and can be multicolored. This tough bulb can be planted any time of year. It even grows well in containers, providing the soil is well-drained. Amaryllis is sun- and shade-tolerant, but grows best in light shade.

Soap aloe, also known as zebra aloe, is a hardy plant that is easy to maintain. During summer, the plant shoots up a stalk that bears beautiful orange, yellow or red flowers. This plant is very easy to grow in sandy, well-drained, soil, and flourishes in partial shade. When the flowers are blooming, they serve as an attractant to hummingbirds and various other pollinators.

We hope to see you this Saturday! Check back for additional information on the plants offered this weekend.
