St. Johns County – A Great Place to Live

St. Johns County is a great place to live. We have a diverse agricultural clientele that produce livestock, crops and commercial horticulture. We have over 33,632 total acres of farmland on 188 farms. Agriculture and related industries generate more than 25,000 jobs and produce $1.43 billion in gross regional product. Along with this our agricultural production, we have approximately 42 miles of beaches, the oldest city in the USA (453 years old) which has amazing history, easy access to recreation and shopping. In addition to all St. Johns County has to offer, we have received excellent news during the past few weeks related to our schools, health and State Land Grant University.

Schools

The Florida Department of Education ranks each of the 67 Florida school districts each year based on student scores from the Florida State Assessment (FSA) and End-of-Course (EOC) . The 2017 – 2018 rankings place the St. Johns County School District 1st in Reading, 1st in Math , 1st in Science and 1st in EOC Exams. Additionally, 22 St. Johns County high school seniors were identified as 2018 National Merit Semifinalists by placing in the top 1 percent of the PSAT. These results place the St. Johns County School District as the best in the State, a ranking we’ve had for several years now.

Health

The US News & World Report in collaboration with the Aetna Foundation ranked nearly 3000 US Counties based on 10 metrics for health. St. Johns County ranked 162 of 3000 which places us in the top 5.4% of Counties in the US. On a state-wide basis, St. Johns County is ranked 1st in the State for health.

Agricultural Support

Each year the Shanghai World University rankings have been published that identify the top institutions from around the world. The 2018 rankings have been released and out of 500 world research universities, the University of Florida ranked 88. More specifically, the University of Florida is ranked 6th in the world for agriculture sciences and is 2nd in the United States.
