At this year’s conference, farmers Natalie B. Parkell and Kevin Osburn will receive the honor of the 2013 Florida Small Farms and Alternative Enterprises Conference “Innovative Farmer Award”.

Natalie B. Parkell and Kevin Osburn’s farm, Vertical Horizon Farm, is located in Hobe Sound and uses a hydroponic growing system, which allows them to grow up to 10 times the amount of produce than traditional, in-ground crops. Additionally, the use of hydroponic systems enables Parkell and Osburn to maintain their crops in an organic way, free of toxins.
