4-H Tropicana Public Speaking County Competition

Youth Public Speaking

On May 2nd 2017, the 32nd Annual 4-H Tropicana Public Speaking Competition was held. 17 out of 4,008 Seminole County 6th graders enrolled in the program participated in the 32nd Annual 4-H Tropicana Public Speaking Competition. Seminole County 4-H sees this program as one of our most valuable 4-H School Enrichment Programs. We would like to thank Seminole County Government Television, SGTV, for capturing this special event on film!

We appreciate the hard work of teachers and support of community volunteers who served as judges for school contests. Their efforts made it possible for over 4,000 students to participate in this year’s program. 10 Seminole County public middle schools and 7 private schools participated.

This Year’s Winners

1st Place Winner: Veronica Valdez, Indian Trails Middle School

2nd Place Winner: Rudi Darden, South Seminole Middle School

3rd Place Winner: Raibren Gordon, Millennium Middle School

Honorable Mention: Jack Fitzgerald, All Souls Catholic School

Many thanks go to the Pepsi Co.-Tropicana Company for their continued support of the program. We appreciate their monetary support for program supplies, ribbons, medallions and plaques as well as their philosophy on encouraging youth to become positive leaders through public speaking.
