Take part in first World Food Safety Day

Join the activities slated for the first World Food Safety Day, this Friday (June 7).

Visit the food safety day pages at the United Nations and the World Health Organization web sites to learn the importance of food safety, the keys to a healthy diet, ways to help bolster food security (that is, personal and neighborhood access to nutritious foods), reduce your of food poisoning, and more. Then, help share that wealth of knowledge across social media platforms, using the hashtags #WorldFoodSafetyDay and #BACFighter!

Foodborne bacteria can’t be seen, tasted or smelled. These microorganisms can make you sick if ingested, and they spread through contact with cutting boards, utensils, counter tops and food. So join the party! Learn to protect yourself and your family from a food-borne illness.

World Food Safety Day is an initiative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and the World Health Organization.
