EVENT: Make your home age-friendly

Home design can impact the ability of residents to stay at home as they age, or following a short- or long-term disability. Our free “Universal Design and Visitability” class on Feb. 7 will highlight techniques and tips that can help turn virtually any home into an accessible, friendly haven.

This class, held 6-7 p.m. at Gulf Gate Library in Sarasota, will help anyone interested in planning ahead for housing needs for the aging, for those looking to support the aging or disabled, or anyone who wants to make (or keep) a home open and available for any visitor.

Sarasota County sustainability staff will present on age-friendly housing strategies and local programs that support them, and discuss the county’s voluntary recognition program for residential units that apply principles of universal design and visitability.

Register early through ufsarasotaext.eventbrite.com to reserve your spot and receive notice of any changes.

As always, you can find all our classes and events – most of which are free – at our ufsarasotaext.eventbrite.com page.
