Upcoming Blood Pressure Series

Have you checked your blood pressure lately? If not, you should! Roughly 46 percent of Americans have high blood pressure, yet many of them don’t even realize it. Even if you’re not sure what your blood pressure reading is, certain risk factors will let you know if you’re more at risk than you thought. Risk factors include weight, physical activity level, stress level, genetics, and others. You can learn all about these risk factors—and other important topics related to high blood pressure—at Advent Health Zephryhill’s CREATION Wellness Center next month. They invited the Family and Consumer Sciences Agent from UF/Pasco County Extension to come back and teach the blood pressure series again, Keeping the Pressure Down. So please join us for a “lunch and learn” session (bring your lunch and get ready to learn) for six Mondays, starting June 10th and ending July 15th from 12pm to 1:30pm.

Each week, learn how lifestyle habits play a role in blood pressure, and how you can prevent or reverse hypertension by implementing these behaviors. Habits include exercise, food, stress, and ways to shop and dine out healthily. Also get new recipe ideas, and food demos and food samplings will be on select weeks.

The Advent Health Zephyrhills CREATION Wellness Center is located at 38233 Daughtery Road, Zephyrhills, FL 33540

As part of this series at the hospital, you will also get your blood pressure, blood sugar, height, weight, and BMI checked from the wellness center’s staff. Get ready to compare your numbers from the first lesson to the sixth lesson!

Please register through Advent Health Zephyrhills’ website. Registration is free thanks to their generous donation to UF/Pasco County Extension: https://www.adventhealth.com/hospital/adventhealth-zephyrhills/events/keeping-pressure-down-256884

If you have any questions about the class, please contact Shari, FCS Agent for Pasco County Extension: 352-518-0481 or at sbresin@ufl.edu
