A Message from Dr. Nick Place on Hurricane Dorian

Dear IFAS and Extension Family,

The National Hurricane Center has reported that Hurricane Dorian is projected to impact Florida as a major hurricane.

As we monitor the progression of Hurricane Dorian, I ask all of us to remain vigilant and monitor the forecast. The safety of all IFAS and Extension personnel is of the greatest importance.

Now is the time to make sure you are prepared. Please review and share resources available to help you, your family and those we serve prepare for disasters.

Angie Lindsey is our point-of-contact with the Florida Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN), and she has and will continue to provide regular updates and links to useful resources to information about disaster preparedness and recovery. I urge you to visit and bookmark the Florida EDEN website: http://www.piecenter.com/training/eden/

For UF/IFAS Employees, review the Disaster Preparedness resources available on the UF/IFAS Extension Administration website (https://extadmin.ifas.ufl.edu/disaster/).

Please direct clients and stakeholders to http://disaster.ifas.ufl.edu/

Both the Extension Administration site and disaster.ifas.ufl.edu will display live updates with further information.

Stay safe!

Nick Place

Dean and Director
