UF/IFAS Vice President Mike Martin To Present Lake Okeechobee Restoration Initiatives

OKEECHOBEE, Fla.—Mike Martin, University of Florida vice president for agriculture and natural resources, will be the featured speaker at a UF Okeechobee County Extension Service program on Lake Okeechobee restoration initiatives, Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the Okeechobee Civic Center.

Martin, who heads UF’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS), will provide information to interested citizens about UF/IFAS research and extension efforts related to the state’s Lake Okeechobee Protection Program. All citizens interested in the program are encouraged to attend and provide public input regarding UF/IFAS activities.

Other program participants include Charles Aller, agricultural water policy director with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in Tallahassee; Jerry Brooks, deputy director of the division of water resource management at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in Tallahassee; and Al Steinman, director of the Lake Okeechobee program at the South Florida Water Management District in West Palm Beach.
