On August 7 at 10 am, UF/IFAS Nassau Master Gardener Volunteer Dee McGraw will conduct a Landscape Matters class: “Gardening with Children: Sunflowers, Beanstalks and Worms.” The program will include several fun gardening activities to do with children, including: planting a Sunflower Playhouse; Sack O’Spuds; constructing an earthworm habitat; and gardening in jars and small containers. Ideas will be offered for garden-related field trips, arts and crafts, and topical children’s literature to stretch the imagination and reinforce knowledge. Participants will make a Green Thumb Garden Journal where children can record their experiences and ideas. The free class will be held at the Yulee Extension office and is open to the public. For more information, call 530-6353.
