Last week UF/IFAS Mid-Florida Research and Education Center (MREC) Director Dr. Roger Kjelgren visited Debbie O’Brien, the afternoon host on 1520 WBZW, to discuss all things MREC.

“What we do at the center is focus on lifestyle horticulture plants,” Kjelgren said. “The sustainable production and use of diverse plants and plant products to enhance people’s quality of life.”

During his visit with O’Brien, Kjelgren discussed all things MREC, including the center’s origin, latest research, community involvement and future plans.

“We’re hiding right under everyone’s noses,” Kjelgren said. “This is the University of Florida, we’re here to serve you right here in Apopka.”
