Snake Identification

Do you have a snake in your yard that you want to know whether if it harmful or harmless? Remember a juvenile snake may not not look anything like an adult snake. Case in point the Florida Black Racer adult is black in color while the juvenile has brown blotches markings on top and spots on the underside. If you find this snake big or small in your yard leave it alone to do it’s job of feeding on rats, mice, lizards, snakes, bird eggs and others.

If you have a snake found in the Florida Keys that you want identified take a photo and send it to kgabel@ufl.edu for identification help.
