Soil Sampling and Testing – Turf Grass
Due to minimal staffing, UF/IFAS Extension Analytical Labs are prioritizing soil samples from producers. Dooryard landscape and garden soil samples may be stored and analyzed as capacity becomes available. We appreciate your patience during these unusual circumstances.
How to obtain a composite soil sample for warm season turf grass.
STEP 1. Make a composite sample.

Crop codes for lawns are on reverse. Up to 5 crop codes may be placed in that box for the single price of $10. This will become one piece of information you will use to build your turf.
Test A ($3 per composite sample) only provides soil pH and lime if needed. It will not indicate levels of phosphorous, potassium, calcium and magnesium present based on your sample. It will not include recommendations if the sample is deficient.
Test B ($10 per composite sample) will indicate lime, phosphorous, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, manganese, copper and zinc present in the sample. Based on the sample and needs of crop, Test B will list pounds of lime, nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium to apply.
STEP 3. Mail composite sample, form and check or money order payable; University of Florida. Levy Extension receives a copy of your soil analysis via email. Call to discuss results.
