2017 Peanut Butter Challenge!

The Extension Office would like to invite you to participate in this year’s Peanut Butter Challenge!

Every year UF/IFAS Extension Offices across the Panhandle coordinate the Peanut Butter Challenge.

Since 2012, volunteers and UF/IFAS Extension faculty have collected jars of peanut butter from residents, volunteer groups and businesses in 16 northwest Florida counties.

Dates

This year the challenge will start Monday, October 9th and end Wednesday, November 15th.

Donation Goal for 2017

In 2015, we collected 160 pounds of peanut butter from the community and this year we have a goal of 200 pounds. We would like to challenge our community organizations, churches, businesses, clubs, county departments and city departments to participate to help us reach our goal.

Invitation for Community Participation

We would like to invite volunteer groups, clubs, organizations, businesses, city departments, county departments, and schools to donate peanut butter to address hunger and food insecurity in our area.

FMB has also agreed to sponsor a $50 savings bond for the organization that collects the most peanut butter. Please include friends and family and any other methods you can think of to collect more peanut butter!

Peanut butter will be measured in ounces (not jars). All peanut butter must be dropped off to the Extension Office by Nov. 15th or a pick up needs to be scheduled before Nov. 15th by calling the Extension Office at 850-342-0187.

School Participation

To increase donations, Extension is partnering with Jefferson County Somerset School this year. Each class in pre-k through 5th grade will have a donation box in their classroom and FMB will be sponsoring a pizza party for the class that collects the most peanut butter. The school challenge will run from Oct. 9th – Nov. 13th.

At the end of the challenge, all of the peanut butter will be donated to local food banks in Jefferson County. We hope your organization will participate in this community service project to help address hunger in Jefferson County!
